Create a survey

The creator of the survey automatically becomes the owner.

  1. Access the Surveys list via the main navigation.
  1. Click on Create on the top-right corner of the screen. You can create a brand new survey or use a template. Visit this page to learn more about templates.
  1. Enter an internal name.
  1. Enter a Title.
  1. Select the Primary language for the survey.
  1. Click on Next.
  1. Select the Survey type.
  1. Click on Create.
  1. Your survey is now created in draft mode. It's time to add content!

The primary language is the language in which you build the survey. You can then translate the survey into other languages.

Test the survey first

To minimize risk, we strongly recommend that you fully test the survey and resolve any potential problems before sending it to respondents. To do this, access the questionnaire, and use the Preview mode. You will then be able to test both the draft and the live versions of the survey without collecting any real data.

Share a test link

Allow your collaborators to test the survey by sharing a test link.

  1. Access the list of Surveys through the main navigation.
  1. Navigate to the survey you want to edit.
  1. Click on Preview.
  1. Select the draft or live version of your survey.
  1. Click on Share preview.
  1. Copy the test link.

Test mode
  • Answers that are collected through this link will not be recorded.
  • Each draft comes with a unique test link. Once the draft is published or discarded, the link will become obsolete. Chaque brouillon est accompagné d'un URL unique.

Add content

Questions

You can add different types of questions to a survey: welcome page, instructions, multiple choice, text answer, matrix, date and rating scale.

  1. Access the Surveys list via the main navigation.
  1. Navigate to the survey you want to edit.
  1. Click on Edit.
  1. From the left panel, click on the question type you want to add.
  1. Fill in the information and options for the question. Options may vary depending on the question type (see Options by question type).
  1. Click on Create.

Publish a survey

Before distributing a survey to respondents, you must first publish it.

  1. In the Edit mode of your survey, click on Publish.
  1. Make sure to correct any potential error before publishing.
  1. Confirm your choice.

Your survey is now published and ready to be distributed!

⚠️
Activating sendings is only available once you’ve published your survey for the first time. It is not available if your survey is still a draft.

Edit a survey

Edit the title and internal name of the survey

  1. Access the list of Surveys via the main navigation.
  1. Navigate to the survey you want to edit.
  1. Click on the Edit button.
  1. Click on the pencil icon to the right of the survey title and/or internal name.
  1. Edit the title and/or internal name.
  1. Click on the Save button.

Change the survey type

  1. Access the list of Surveys via the main navigation.
  1. Navigate to the survey you want to edit.
  1. Click on the 3-dot menu.
  1. Click on Settings.
  1. Edit the survey type.
  1. Click on Save.

Edit the content of a survey

All changes will automatically be saved as draft first, therefore allowing you to change everything you need without affecting the live version of the survey. You can choose to publish your changes once you are ready to do so.

Publish changes

Warning: If your survey has already collected responses, it is possible that editing the survey will affect the data. Please refer to the article Edit a survey that has collected responses.

You must publish your survey to apply the changes you have made.

  1. Click on Publish.
  1. Make sure to correct any potentiel error before publishing.
  1. Confirm your choice.

Changes are now available to your respondents.

⚠️
Once you publish a new version of your survey, you will no longer be able to come back to the previous version.

Edit a question

1. Access the list of Surveys via the main navigation. 2. Navigate to the survey you want to edit. 3. Click on the Edit button. 4. Click on the question you want to edit.

Duplicate a question

1. Access the list of Surveys via the main navigation.

2. Navigate to the survey you want to edit.

3. Click on the Edit button.

4. Hover over the question to duplicate.

5. Click on the duplicate icon.

⚠️
In the case of a survey that has already collected responses, duplicating does not duplicate the responses.

Order a question

1. Access the list of Surveys via the main navigation. 2. Navigate to the survey you want to edit. 3. Click on the Edit button. 4. Hover over the question to be reordered. 5. Use the 6-dots icon to the left of the question to drag and drop the question into the order of your choice.

Edit the title of a question

1. Click on the question you want to change. 2. Edit the text of the question title.

Edit an answer choice

1. Click on the question you want to change. 2. Edit the text of the answer choice.

Hide an answer choice

Allows you to hide the choice from respondents, but still retain your data. This option is only available to choice questions that have already collected responses. You can go back and make the choice visible to respondents again at any time. Hidden choices appear in reports and graphs. If the choice is present in conditional branches, these will be retained, but ignored.

1. Click on the question you want to change. 2. Click on the eye icon of the choice to be hidden.

Delete an answer choice

1. Click on the question you want to change. 2. Click on the trash icon of the choice to delete

1. Access the list of Surveys via the main navigation. 2. Navigate to the survey you want to edit. 3. Click on the Edit button. 4. Hover over the question you want to delete. 5. Click on the trash can icon. 6. Confirm the deletion.
